NEU Webinar: Lower-GWP Concrete Without Compromise
Join Mike D'Agostini, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Universal Matter Inc, for the next NEU webinar on November 18, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
As the concrete industry works to reduce embodied carbon, producers, contractors, owners, and specifiers are increasingly focused on lower-GWP concrete solutions. The most practical pathways — reducing cement content, increasing supplementary cementitious materials, and optimizing mix designs — are well understood, but they can also introduce real performance challenges, including slower early strength development, schedule risk, and durability concerns.
This presentation will explore the performance tradeoffs that can limit broader adoption of low-carbon concrete and discuss how advanced material technologies, including graphene-enabled admixtures, can help close the gap. The presentation will highlight how functionalized graphene can improve hydration efficiency, support early and late strength development, and enable lower-carbon mix designs without sacrificing the constructability and durability expectations of conventional concrete.
Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how low-GWP concrete strategies can be evaluated through performance-based trial batching, including strength development, fresh properties, durability indicators, embodied carbon documentation, and real-world adoption considerations.
